Pesquisa de Referências na Internet
O utilizador introduz as chaves de pesquisa (palavras chaves, autor, data, publicação, etc..), com filtros adicionais (selecção lógica AND OR,) relaciona-se com PubMed, bibliotecas de todo mundo dentro do padrão Z39..Z50 e as informações são transferidas da WEB para o computador do utilizador na forma de arquivo de bancos de dados do EndNote. Outros sites tais como WOS (Web Of Science) , Dialog, Ovid permitem a exportação de informações entre estes bancos de dados e o EndNote. Esta pesquisa também pode ser feita em CD-ROM ou o utilizador pode digitar o próprio banco de dados.

Gestão de Banco de Dados
É simples gerir um banco de dados bibliográficos. O EndNote permite verificar duplicidade de informações, criar novos bancos de dados, consolidar diversos bancos num só. Além de criar fichas de leitura é possível incluir indicadores para documentos de utilizadores. Por exemplo: arquivos de CD-ROM, etc.. . Além das informações de periódicos, é possível incluir vários outros produtos, tais como vídeo, filmes, colecções, documentos não indexados entre outros. Num simples click é possível organizar por ordem de autor, data, nome ou qualquer outra informação. O utilizador pode criar o seu próprio campo de anotações e traduzir para português o nome dos campos.

Bibliografia no formato de publicação
O EndNote trabalha dentro do seu editor de texto, o Word por exemplo. O EndNote adapta-se muito bem a todas as versões de Microsoft Word (Office 97, Office 2000 e Office XP). Possui centenas de estilos para todas as áreas. A indicação de referências fica automática à medida em que escreve o seu trabalho (por ordem alfabética ou por numeração). O EndNote é uma ferramenta necessária para publicações com várias citações e que precisam de ser alteradas. Imprescindível para a área de publicação médica como na realização de revisões, teses e relatórios de pesquisa.
